As FTX’s bankruptcy liquidation enters a critical stage, a highly controversial motion – a plan to deal with claims from users in “restricted countries” – has caused uproar among creditors around the world. The FTX liquidator said that it will first seek legal advice to determine whether assets can be distributed to these jurisdictions; if the conclusion is that compensation cannot be paid, the relevant claims may even be legally confiscated and transferred to the liquidation trust account.
