A booming derivatives market The derivatives market is active again, thanks to the significant price recovery of major cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH). According to data released by Coinglass on May 12, the total open interest value of the derivatives market reached $138.676 billion, with a trading volume of $278.053 billion on the day. Of this, Bitcoin accounted for $67.045 billion in open interest value and $81.977 billion in trading volume, while Ethereum contributed $28.548 billion and $96.774 billion. These figures are close to the peaks earlier this year, showing the strong growth of the market – and increasing competition. In this landscape, centralized exchanges (CEX) and decentralized exchanges (DEX) coexist and drive competition for market share.
